Where else in the world could you get deep fried Mars bars? More traditionally, we have a love of offal (the bits of an animal that would normally be chucked away). For example we use the blood and fat of a cow to make black pudding. It starts with a fat sausage-like thing encased in intestine. Once it's solidified, you chop it up into 1cm thick slices and fry it on both sides to make a delicious addition to the traditional English breakfast of greasy bacon rashers, fried egg, fried tomato, mushrooms, sausage etc. Another variant is faggots which are meaty mounds served with gravy. I used to love these in my student days on a limited budget. It sounds like a bit of a joke but these foods really are nice to eat!

One of my English friend's friend went to Germany for work. One lunch time he went to canteen to have something to eat. He wasn't hungry so much,he want a light meal. When he looked at hot food counter ,he saw dumpling in a gravy like sauce. ' Oh! that's looks nice.' so he had it. When he started eating dumpling, that was very chewy. He wondered what that was.
Can you guess?
That was a testicle!
Is that a common food in Germany? Someone let me know.

Hello! I thought I might test post here if it's Ok?
When I first went to Japan my friends from work wanted me to try some strange foods like pigs trotters grilled at the bar. In the UK I usually drink pints at the bar and nibble on a few peanuts. I have to admit that I idn't really enjoy the taste of these but I suppose the experience was very interesting and good fun in the end with the struggle with the chopsticks and the expectant look of pleasure from the people pushing the food samples at me!
Thankfully the next night had better food for me in the form of grilled pankakes with prawns, lettuce, egg and stuff and a few beers.
OOps, seems like I went a bit off topic here, but in defense of unusual British food, the Japanese have some equally bizarre food for us from the UK to get used to.
By for now...

I mentioned this to my japanese text side, but we actually eat lot of strange foods. The traditional japanese breakfast containts raw egg which is eaten with boiled rice and soy sauce, but having Salmonera poisoning is quite rare. Then, we make rice balls for lunch, which we normally keep in our bag without refridgerating. I used to take these rice balls to shool's trekking day, and that's most common packed lunch in japan. In Britain we have to keep cooked rice in a fridge because they are categorized as a high risk food. But in japan, I hardly hear anyone having a food poising either. In Britain, things sometimes gone too far. We'd better to expose ourself to bacterias to increase body's resistance ageinst them. As a chef, I'm not allowed to neglect my sanitise duty, but in my home I'm placticing this. So, look at my family, I haven't had a sick leave in last 10 years and more! so as my son and hasband too! Therefore, the reason why my house always dirty is, my son, that's because I love you! Be healthy, that's most important isn't it?

I haven't tried Pig's ear in Okinawa yet, but I have had Korean style Pig's ear which is called "Tombi". That was just like hard jelly, not much flavour but people enjoy the texture I believe. When my family went to South Korea, we didn't enjoy food so much. Many food we tried were too sweet. But when we went to Inch'on town for one night stay, we went to local restaurant which speciality was Octpus stew. We ordered mild hot one in case hot was too hot for us. That dish had chopped octpus and sliced onion, cabbage, some other beges in a red sauce and cooked on the table. The taste was unbelievabley hot! We couldn't believe that was mild, and thought restaurant side made a mistake. But that was really MILD HOT! I knew Korean people like chilli pepper, but how poeple can eat such hot taste?
Olso, in a BBQ restaurant in Japan which called "Yakinikuya", we can have cattle's 4 differnt stomachs(some of them are eaten as raw), pig's stomach, pig's womb, artery, wind's pipe etc, but can't have testicles! In Spain, it's a delicacy, coach's guide said, but he hasn't tried yet. If you like deep fried Mars bar, you may like Ice cream Tempura. Where to have it? well, I don't know.

If you think deep-fried Mars bar is revolting, how about deep-fried Ann-pan(deep-fried bread filled with sweet beans),or Banana-annko spring roll?(Spring roll filled with banana and sweet beans) Try it first, then judge it later. Otherwise you may miss the taste of your life time, who knows?
